Lee Mun Wah, the creator of ‘Color of Fear’ (1994), is renowned for his profoundly impactful, confrontational documentary style.
For those not familiar, ‘Color of Fear’ (1994) assembles men of different backgrounds to confront the complexities of privilege, racism and identity in the US. It is one of his many documentaries that challenges viewers to confront uncomfortable truths and inspire meaningful action towards a more equitable society.
Mun Wah’s work is grounded in the belief that curiosity is the gateway to the heart, and that listening and being heard are essential pillars of genuine human connection.
I’ve had the privilege of spending time with Mun Wah during my visits to San Francisco. He has welcomed me into his home and we’ve spoken at length about his story, work and mission. He is one of the most engaging, inspiring and warm-hearted people I’ve met and I felt that this clip is a perfect embodiment of his character.
In the wake of ‘Fortitude’, Ron Timehin and I are now in talks with Mun Wah about a joint venture that that will explore the modern perspectives of people from different backgrounds in the UK, led by Mun Wah himself.
More to come soon.
